FUNCTIONS OF MANAGEMENT




















The previous blog talked about the laboratory manager as a versatile individual. Let us now dive into the principles that are observed in the field of laboratory management.

PLANNING




















This is the thinking and analyzing portion. Planning is the foundation of management. This stage attempts to anticipate the future. Goals are defined and the strategy and schedule is established here.

ORGANIZING



















This is the process of structuring activities, materials and personnel for accomplishing predetermined obejectives. In this stage, tasks are designed, working relationships are established, and the needs to be done are defined.

DIRECTING








This involves the process in supervising and leading workers to accomplish the goals and ensuring that day to day tasks are done. Leading, influencing, and motivating people is also done here.

CONTROLLING















This is the process of checking up on the priorities that were established. Controlling involves monitoring, changing of plans for new development resolving conflicts and taking corrective actions. Quality assurance is also in this process.
